Lighting is one of the more under appreciated resources. When the power is out what will you do for lighting? The convenience and capability of a quality headlamp cannot be overstated. The Streamlight 61050 Trident headlamp offers great value for the price. With the advent of LED lighting battery life has been greatly extended. What I particularly like about this model is its quality construction, is powered by AAA batteries, and offers three different lighting intensities; 80 lumens at 5 hours run time, 35 lumens at 10 hours, and 11 lumens at 53 hours. The 11 lumens selection will suffice for most lighting needs and thereby battery life can be greatly extended. The headband is solid and comfortable and the lamp head tilts 90 degrees. The headlamp is also water and impact resistant. A great value and must have for emergency preparedness.
The Maglite LED XL200 is an inexpensive LED compact flashlight with 5 easy to use functions. The activation button is conveniently located on the bottom. One click high power – great for self defense situations, two clicks strobe mode, three clicks night light mode, 4 clicks signal mode, and 5 clicks SOS mode. The high power mode is rated at 172 lumens, a powerful light when awakened in the middle of the night. What I really like is that it runs on (3) AAA batteries with 2-1/2 hours life on high power and 218 hours on low power. Also adjust can from “spot” to “flood” and can be locked against accidental operation. A great light to have on your nightstand, in your toolbox, or to carry.
